I work primarily in painting and installation medium, exploring traces of memory and discontinuity through surfaces and materials. I am interested in how material layers carry marks of lived life, choices and how working with these traces creates new narratives.
My practice is influenced by my work as a conservator, where the study of wall paintings and historical spaces has taught me to observe and read even the smallest details. I often work from photographs and sketches, using them as a basis for creating new surfaces through processes of layering, removal, and reworking.
As an artist, I am able to add emotion and speculation to documentation, allowing traces of the past to become more personal. As part of the process of discovery, these findings become intertwined with my own memories, bringing with them new ways of attentiveness.
